Rumors

Magic Kingdom:

  • There are a lot of rumors flying around. In the next four to five years these things may happen. In the MK they may get one or two new "E" ticket rides and one new "D" ticket ride.

  • A new version of Space Mountain:
The plan as of right now is to close the attraction and reopen sometime between December 2008 and April 2009. It appears as though this will be WDW's big draw for when it opens¦

  • The rumored changes are expansive, from new vehicles with on board audio system, to new effects never seen at any other incarnation of Space Mountain. The classic coaster will probably receive a name change and a ton of publicity as part of the process. The new name will have a “2″ in it, whether it be Mission 2 or just Space Mountain 2.0.

  • Those famous toy guns that have been sold in Adventureland and Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom since opening day back in 1971 will be going through an appearance change soon. Those guns that you probably have seen a small boy walking around with in the parks are going to be turning a bright blue over the next few months, so they won’t be easily mistaken for real firearms. This change is actually coming much later than expected, with laws already passed in most states that require toy guns to be brightly colored. Should be interesting to see how sales of these guns hold up after the change.

Epcot:

  • Over at EPCOT the second floor in the Imagination Building will reopen. Several proposed plans include bringing back a new version of Figment's old attraction... parts of the old show along with new enhancements have been proposed. Next to Spaceship Earth some of the tarps that are supposed to provide shade are scheduled for removal, not all are supposed to go, but the plans are still not final. There is clearly a plan that involves removing some of the mistakes of the 90's. Also expect to see at least one new E-Ticket by the end of the decade at Epcot, with a modest D-Ticket possible depending on funding next year. The Canadian pavilion is where some Imagineers want to focus by bringing out the old plans for a Canadian Rockies structure behind it to cover the Soarin' building and add a water ride like DCA's Grizzly River.

Disney's Hollywood Studios:

  • At the Studios you will see the most changes. Starting of course with the Pixar area of the park you will see more attractions and activities over the rest of the decade. There are proposals to liven up the area as well as various other sections with a renewed focus on theming. Some of the drab areas will get a much needed spruce-up by 2010. There are plans in the works for one new E-Ticket, in addition to "Toy Story Mania" and at least another C and D-Ticket by the beginning of the next decade.

Animal Kingdom:

  • Animal Kingdom may be getting a new ride in a few years. Not sure if it will be "E" or "D" or what area it will be in. A new night-time show will appear between fall 2008 and summer 2009.
