Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings Unveils a New Honeymoon Registry, Cinderella Designer Doll Makes Debut

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings creates storybook weddings and enchanting honeymoons for hundreds of couples every year. In 2007, the Disney magic continues with two new offerings.

Disney's Honeymoon Registry -- Couples can complete a wedding gift registry for elements to comprise an all-inclusive honeymoon to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Vacation Club. Gifts available on the registry range from dining, theme park tickets and resort accommodations to a personal safari, an after-hours visit to Magic Kingdom or a Disney Vacation Club membership. The customized registry is divided into specific categories such as "active adventure," "exotic," "luxury," "relaxation" and "distinctly Disney" to compliment couples' personal interests. Couples can even personalize their online registry page with messages and pictures. For more information or to sign up for the Disney Honeymoon Registry, call 407/939-7776 or visit the Web site at disneyhoneymoonregistry.com.

Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding's Doll -- A collectible Cinderella bride doll, donning a princess-inspired wedding dress by designer Paloma Blanca, will be available exclusively for purchase at the World of Disney store in New York, Walt Disney World in Florida, and Disneyland Resort in California. Together, Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings and Brides magazine created this special-edition doll available for a limited time only during "The Year of a Million Dreams" celebration.

For planning a wedding at Walt Disney World.

Here are some reader suggestions:

bulletDo your own bookings for WDW hotels (on this site -- see DISCOUNTS) OR use a travel service like Kingdom Magic Travel (info on the Main Menu page of this site) or Dreams Unlimited -- Check out renting a suite at one of the Disney hotels: this can serve as the place for the ceremony and for refreshments & appetizers to be served afterward. You'd need to arrange for a local clergy person.
bulletGo to dinner with your party to one of the WDW restaurants (i.e. California Grille - great view of Magic Kingdom fireworks). Also, you can book a fireworks cruise on your own private boat depending on how many people you have for Magic Kingdom or Epcot. It would probably be wise to rent the suite from the day prior to the wedding since most hotel check-ins are after 3 pm. An informal get together could be held in it the night before & it can then serve as the bride & groom's wedding night accommodations or accommodations for other guests. Think that most of the deluxe resorts have suites and I understand that Boardwalk Inn has some beautiful suites that overlook the boardwalk as well as "cottage" type suites that are multiple levels and off a beautiful courtyard. This area (boardwalk) also has great photo spots as well. I don't think (but haven't checked this out for sure) there is a problem to have an outside catering service deliver food, etc. to your guest room so you can look into using them instead of Disney room/food services. Check out www.ibidusa.com for different packages that can be bid on for Orlando area caterers and bakeries, specialty shops etc.- they may offer delivery into Disney.
bulletCheck out options at the Swan and Dolphin Hotels: they are independently operated and may have better pricing, etc. They are very luxurious & in the heart of the Epcot resorts area. If you're an Entertainment Club member you can get a good deal on room rates.  Also check out Wyndham Palace at Downtown Disney.
bulletContact the restaurants at Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island about holding ceremony/reception there -- many are located on the lake and may offer a nice setting.
bulletThere is a planning service for all kinds of special events called Pixies that has very creative ideas, etc. for special occasions at www.giftsofalifetime.com.
bulletMary, Queen of the Universe Shrine is beautiful and is the RC church closest to Disney. Might be much less expensive to marry there then head to WDW.
bulletThere is also a website for central Florida weddings; the man behind it will perform the ceremony as either a minister or a notary public and has performed weddings at Disney and on the TV show "Weddings of a Lifetime".  http://home.att.net/~revtim/
bulletFor more on Disney weddings (even discounted merchandise!!!!) go to www.yourfairytale.com
bulletAlso try www.disneyweddings.com
bulletIf you are married Mon-Thurs before 2pm (at WDW) there is a minimum charge of $7,500. After 2 pm or on the week end there's a minimum charge of $10,000. You are also committed to renting a certain amount of rooms, depending on how many guests you have. They also want a $1000 deposit (I believe it's non-refundable) before they will book your date and start planning. Cypress Garden and many other attractions in central Florida also do weddings and might be more reasonable.
bulletRent a suite and get married there and just have Disney cater a dinner in the suite.  Or get a private dining room at the Grand Floridian or one of the fancier restaurants.
bulletDisney has many different cost levels for a Fairy Tale Wedding. The least expensive would be an "intimate" which starts around $3,200. This is a package and includes your hotel, tickets, officiant fees, limo, flowers, wedding site, etc. You may only have 8 additional guests and it is $75 per guest to attend cake cutting reception, ceremony and a dinner at a chosen restaurant. There is a $10,000 minimum for a Custom FTW on weekends. It's $7,500 during the week. Customs do not include park tickets, hotel (except for a free night the evening of the wedding). We are doing a midweek Custom Vow Renewal. WE must spend $7,500 on Disney wedding items the day of our ceremony. WE must meet a $75 per person food/beverage minimum. Our plans include having our pictures taken in the magic kingdom that morning for $725. This is in the park prior to opening. We will renew our vows at the Wedding Pavilion which costs $2,000 (currently $1,500 but a Fall increase is expected). Our ceremony is at 10 a.m. Followed by a reception at 11am at the Grand Floridian's Whitehall Room and Terrace, part of the convention center. We are working on the menu which will be anywhere from $29-46 per person depending on buffet or pre-plated, etc. We will have Mickey and the White Rabbit in attendance for 30 minutes for $850. A caricaturist will give our guests a take home caricature for $675 (3 hours). There will be a hosted bar billed on consumption (wine, beer, soda, juice and coffee). We are deciding on music such as a string trio. Since we will only have 15-20 guests, to meet our minimum and to add to the fun, we will host a dessert party that evening at either Fantasmic or Illuminations. We will have a private viewing area with desserts and a hosted bar billed on consumption. This party will be about $1,000 which includes viewing fees of $12 per person and a $90 host fee. The viewing fees are charged b/c our guests will not be using their park passes to access Epcot that day. Instead we will be escorted to the private area upon arrival. Guests will arrive to the pavilion by limo from their Disney resorts. Our total budget is $11-12,000 which includes our travel (driving) to Disney. Food. All wedding expenses including limo, officiante, flowers, photographer, in park photos, Hair and makeup done by Disney in the morning, wedding cake, characters, dessert party, and a Farewell dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table later in the week. We are meeting Disney's minimums. But to save money we are also hiring some non-Disney vendors for a few things (flowers, limo, photographer, wedding cake.) Many FTW brides stay right at the $7500 min and have a wonderful wedding. Others spend much more. And then there is the Intimate which is reasonably priced considering that it also serves as your hotel and ticket package.
