Golf in Walt Disney World

There is a new Golf Themed Disney Vacation Club Resort being built near the Eagle Pines Golf Course.  It is scheduled to open in 2004.

Booking Tee Times:  All tee times must be guaranteed with a major credit card.  48 hour cancellation is required.  If advance notice is not given for cancellation, the card on file will be charged.  Walt Disney World resort hotel guests can book tee times up to 90 days in advance.  Call (407) WDW-GOLF.  Other guests can book up to 30 days in advance.  Proper golf attire is required at all times (shirt with color and Bermuda length shorts or slacks).  The courses are open from 7 am until it starts to get dark (roughly 6 pm or thereabouts).

Golfers who would like to evaluate their swing and compare how different golf clubs perform can make reservations to use the complimentary video/computer evaluation system at the Callaway Golf Performance Center at Bonnet Creek.

Club Rentals:  Approximately $40 for steel shafts and approximately $45 for graphite shafts.  No charge for Junior size clubs. Club rentals require a $500 deposit and a photo ID.

Private Lessons:  Thirty-minute private lessons are available for approximately $50.  Golfers can also have their swings taped and analyzed in a private video lesson for approximately $75.  You get to keep the tape.   Advanced golfers can have a pro walk the course with them and observe their game.  This is called "The Playing Lesson" and costs about $150.  Private lessons can be arranged through Disney Golf at (407) 939-4653.  All lessons are taught by PGA professionals.  A variety of lessons are available for novice and experienced golfers.

Golf Clinics:  Two-hour golf clinics are available to all visitors through the Disney Institute.  In groups of 12 to 16, players can work on their swing under PGA professionals.  This is offered daily in the morning.  Clinics are usually held at the driving range at the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course.  Golf clinics cost approximately $75.  Guests who have purchased a Disney Institute package can reserve clinics up to 6 months in advance.  Guests at other Walt Disney World resorts and day visitors can reserve a clinic up to 30 days in advance.  Call the Disney Institute at (800) 282-9282 to make reservations.

Transportation to the Courses: Complimentary taxi service is available to guests staying at any Walt Disney World Resort - to and from the courses.

Golf Getaway Vacation:  The Walt Disney Travel Company offers an all-inclusive Golf Getaway vacation package for people who want to play golf often.  Call 800-828-0228 for pricing and details.

Sporting Gear:  In addition to the shops located at some of the courses, these shops also offer golf gear:  D-Sports, located at Wide World of Sports (athletic wear, bathing suits, game balls, and sports memorabilia).  Main Street Athletic Club in the Magic Kingdom (golf and tennis sweaters, golf accessories and sports-related toys for kids.  Also, a collection of sports memorabilia is on display), Team Mickey at Downtown Disney (athletic wear and athletic shoes).  Sport Goofy at the All-Star Sports Resort (footballs, soccer balls and sports-related toys for kids).
