Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Set in
medieval Persia, the story of an adventurous prince who teams up
with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a
sandstorm that could destroy the world. This movie stars Jake
Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, and Alfred Molina, and is in theaters now.
Camp Rock: The Final Jam – starring all four of the
Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Alyson Stoner, and many others from the
original film – scheduled to be released September 3, 2010.
Toy Story 3 - Woody, Buzz, and the rest of their
toy-box friends are dumped in a day-care center after their owner,
Andy, departs for college. Tim Allen, Tom Hanks, Michael Keaton,
Timothy Dalton, Joan Cusask, and Whoopi Goldberg and just a few of
the stars lending their voices to this Disney/Pixar movie, which is
in theaters now.
Cars 2 - Brad Lewis will direct this follow-up to
the 2006 Cars movie, which finds hotshot race car Lighting McQueen
and rusty, trusty pal Mater going overseas to compete in a major
race. This is currently scheduled for release on June 24, 2011.
Brave – From Pixar – Set in mythic
Scotland, the movie tells the story of Merida (Reese Witherspoon), a
royal daughter and archer whose reckless choice has dire
consequences for her father's (Billy Connolly) kingdom and her
mother (Emma Thompson). This action-adventure movie is currently
expected to be released in November, 2011.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice - an innovative and epic
comedy adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are
swept into the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil.
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day
Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim
Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits
Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who
demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The
sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art
and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to
stop the forces of darkness. It'll take all the courage Dave can
muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he
becomes The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Scheduled for release on July 14,
2010.
High School Musical 4: East Meets West – scheduled
for release on The Disney Channel in 2010 - the story is set against
the cross-town school rivalry between the East High Wildcats and
West High Knights. Only Alyson Reed (Ms. Darbus) and Bart Johnson
(Coach Jack Bolton) of the original cast are expected to return.
The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made - release date
12/25/11. Kermit the Frog and his muppet pals put on a show to save
their old theater. Featuring the voices of Charles Grodin and Jason
Segel. Shoots this fall.
Spy Kids 4: Armageddon - Release date August 19,
2011.
Producer Don Hahn has confirmed plans for a theatrical release of
The Lion King in 3D. Though the conversion process
is still in the early stages, the plan is for The Lion King to
follow the upcoming 3D version of Beauty and the Beast, set for
release sometime in 2011. Hahn went on to tease the proposed Roger
Rabbit sequel, saying only,"if you're a fan, pretty soon you're
going to be very, very, very happy." The bad news for Disney fans is
that hand-drawn The Snow Queen has been put on hold.
Winnie The Pooh - This animated film is set to be
released July 15, 2011.
Gnomeo and Juliet - A version of Shakespeare's
play, set in the world of warring indoor and outdoor gnomes. This
animated film is scheduled for release in 2011 and features the
voices of James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Jason Statham, Michael Caine,
Patrick Stewart, and Maggie Smith.
Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure - Scheduled to be
released in 2011. Ashley Tisdale is rumored to reprise her role as
Sharpay Evans from the High School Musical movies. Sharpay travels
to New York to pursue a Broadway career. This film has also been
referred to as "High Stakes".
Secretariat - The life story of Penny Chenery,
owner of the racehorse Secretariat, who won the Triple Crown in
1973. To be released October 8, 2010. Starring John Malkovich, Diane
Lane, and Dylan Walsh.
Tangled
- The long-haired Princess Rapunzel has spent her entire
life in a tower, but when she falls in love with a bandit who was
passing by she must venture into the outside world for the first
time to find him. Scheduled for release November 24, 2010 and
features the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi.
Rapunzel, Mother Gothel and Flynn are rumored to start making
appearances in the Magic Kingdom in October.
Imax will next year release three more 3D Disney pictures, including
"Mars Needs Moms," starring Seth Green and Joan
Cusack, from March 11, 2011.
Imax will also screen super-sized versions of the Johnny
Depp-starrer "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 3D"
on May 20, 2011 and "Cars 2 3D," slated for release
June 24, 2011.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Jerry
Bruckheimer has announced that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger
Tides has started filming in Hawaii. This film will be directed by
Rob Marshall and will be opening in 3D and 2D theaters on May 20,
2011. The highly-anticipated film stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush,
Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin McNally, Stephen Graham, Astrid
Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, Yuki Matsuzaki and Gemma Ward.
Tron Legacy - Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old
son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father's disappearance and finds
himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and
gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years.
Along with Kevin's loyal confidant, father and son embark on a
life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe
that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
This movie will star Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, Michael Sheen,
Olivia Wilde, and Garrett Hedlund. The movie is currently scheduled
to be released on December 17, 2010.
